How can we help endangered species?
Although helping endangered species needs a more serious commitment than just making adjustment sin your daily lives, it is a worthy cause. No wonder, an organization like the World Wild Life Fund has made the best inroads into this niche and has helped conserve a lot of such endangered lives across the globe. From our end, here is how we can help endangered species:
- Conserve habitats: Endangered species mostly consist of wild animals and thus you may find most these species in wild life sanctuaries or national parks established for this very need. It is very important thus, that these wild life sanctuaries are protected form damage.
- Learn about conservation and make sure that you educate your friends and acquaintances as to the importance of conservation and the importance of maintaining the ecological balance.
- Regulations: Make sure that you obey all wild life regulations when you visit a sanctuary, never take your pets along, follow fire regulations, never pluck flowers or disturb the flora or the fauna in any way. Do not litter the area and make sure you keep safe distance from the animals.
- When in your area, make sure that you plant more greenery and the greenery you plant should be localized and not exotic. This helps the natural animals that belong to your neighborhood to return and live in the area.
- Stop using chemicals and fertilizers that can pollute the environment and cause the quality of food for animals to degrade. This effort along with building bird houses in your backyard can create an ideal atmosphere and make room for the local wild life.
Going by the Darwinian theory of survival of the fittest, the world today has already lost of species due to extinction. The main perpetrator of this crime has been mankind and it comes as no surprise that we have to shirk such activities that would further this destruction and act on what we have and conserve it to the best of our efforts.
Many conservation groups like The Nature Conservancy, The World Wild Life Fund and Natural Resources Defense Council are already working round the clock for conserving what is left of out planet’s wild life. You can make an effort to join one of these organization or any of the many others to support the cause directly or indirectly.
